I, honestly, don't happen to know very much about what we've been learning this week about peak oil. I may know a little but not too much. I do happen to have some interesting questions, at least thats what I think of them. For one, I wonder why it's considered peak oil, what if oil is just on a temporary decline? We go about calling the oil, or any other thing at its peak but we are never positive when anything comes to an absolute end. I wonder too, if there will ever be any kind of way for us to make oil in some way, in case we do run out. With no current plan in place, you can't help but wonder...what if?
Oil accounts for 43% of the world's total fuel consumption. On one of the sources that Andy provided us with, it says that oil will never just completely run out. Oil follows this pattern, a pattern similar to humans, if you dare to compare. Humans all follow the same exact pattern, little babies turn into these little crawling toddlers which turn into what can be annoying little things at times. Then, we grow, start maturing, some more than others, and some not at all. We find someone to do sex with, make babies and the process just begins all over again. Then there's oil, that follows a pattern that suggest that oil will be the same in 2030 as it was in 1980.
But I, still am not settled with the "opinion" of there being just one peak, what if we follow this curve and suggest that there's another peak, that based on when exactly it began, will translate to maybe the next century having another peak of oil, or something even better that will save the planet in all ways. Production in oil is supposed to be dropping by approximately 3% a year. But this is based on the pattern that it history has showed, what if one little thing can alter the course of our future. Like for example, with us using less barrels of oil one year than the next can alter the way oil is produced.

collapse assignment 1
I found it rather interesting that the island that Jared Diamond portrays to is really kind of isolated. These people don't have the technologies that we do, and have some really ancient sculptures. The way that jared diamond explains in detail the setting of this island, shows how the different societies and their setting are set apart from the rest of the world. When I think about this island I wonder why no one has settled there or anything, like every other country gets settled, why hasnt this one. Why is this one so much more different than all the others?

final food assignment
Watching the video by Dana White I actually found it quite funny. The story behind the whole video is telling us how shit can be when cows or anyone for that matter, gets trapped into a place where they don't know yet what's going to happen until it actually does. For the last couple of weeks in class we have been watching steps 0-100 on the torturing and murdering of animals, which produce our food. We've seen many things from people throwing out little chicks because they weren't yellow enough and then there were cows who didn't deserve the pleasure of ejaculating into anything but a human hand because they didn't have enough black spots. These animals were all mistreated and mistreated close enough to the fullest extent.
We've also seen the mistreat of flowers and trees, we have seen sunflower seeds get pestisides poured over them becasue the soil will be better for these farmers after they are killed. Why not at least take these flowers out and sell them and make profit? I don't understand why everything has to be more about money in the short term for everyone thean money in the long term, maybe things would fall into different places. Maybe, just maybe.
There were pigs who were put all together then forced into a little place where they injected something into them, I have no clue what it was but it was something, then they force them onto these little ropes which I don't like seeing those pigs on, they are crying their hearts out, pigs are really fat, imagine all that fat they carry being weighed out on one leg and the pig hanging on it for a long time. They then pass them through some sort of heated room where I guess they kill them I can't really recall the exact what of their choosing of killing method, they then pass them through a machine that cuts them directly down the middle of their torso and has their intestines just hanging out ready to all fall out. That's when the pigs are being led to their next destination, where a human being will physically take everything out and go about their daily life as if nothing had happened that same day at work. They take everything out, spray sometype of thing in the pig and pass the intestines down, which I guess is something other people eat.
I wonder, if more people knew about the things that go down in those factories would they eat it more? Eat it less? Think about the cruelty when they eat it? I personally would pribably think about it but contiune to eat it, like I don't care about it unless its like something that's going to get me sick. If it satisfies me and my taste buds, and of course fills me up, I don't mind where its from.

Food # 8 Industrial Food
I think its bullshit how these so called farmers torture these animals. What happened to the image the corporate media gives us on these farmers, they come nowhere close to what they are supposed to be. i find it crazy how we can safely assume how our food is being made. You always seem to assume the more kindergarden savy storyline but when in reality its far from kindergarden. It's worst than what the Nazi's did in a sense, if u were to compare the two. They Nazi's hated Jews and therefor tortured them to get a ridiculous happy feeling. Isn't that what these so called farmers are doing? They torture these poor animals, get what they want and slain them, and they do it in the most cruel way.
Hanging poor pigs on their legs with all that weight that they carry and hear the screeches they leave and just cut them completely open. These people tease animals, making them think they are going to be "doing sex" and then neglecting them of their closes source of pleasure. You have people working in these huge factories than can actually go ab out their day chewing bubble gum and hand picking intestines, chopping off feet and single handedly killing thousands of animals, because they all play a role in the murdering of the animals, yes I said murdering, because thats what they are doing? What else would you call something like that? Imagine the human race being tortured like that, oh boy!

AIDS WALK
So yesterday I went to the AIDS walk, I remember me going before when I was much younger but not being able to finish the walk, its 6.2 miles we're talking about here! I remember cutting through all the shortcuts I could find and not even taking it serious, maybe its because it was more of a forced thing where I didn't even want to walk but someone was forcing me to do it which is why I didn't enjoy it. Yesterday was kind of different but also kind of the same, I wasn't forced to do it this time but I wanted to do it to support a good cause, to push myself and also to try to have a good time on a dreadful sunday. I ended up walking all the miles (6.2) and probably even more because these gys ended the finish line near the entrance of the park but had you walk tons of more km afterwards, so in all I think it ended up being around 7 miles, I also got to see Alicia and Beatrice which was weird because I had bumped into Alicia the day before so it was a really weird vibe. Na I'm just playing but they said the attendance was close to 700,000 people which I believe is a lot of good people doing the right thing and raising money for a really really good cause. Next objective: breast cancer??

Food culture at home (second draft)
Recently, all of the sudden, I've been thinking about the things that I do when I get home to eat. I noticed things I didn't notice before, about how there's NEVER water in my house, so I'm always the one to fill up the gallon, but I usually am not in the mood to do that. In my freezer I contain a 2 liter bottle of what was once coca cola. I have it about half filled with ice so when I am in the mood to drink a lot of water, and have it cold quickly, I just fill that up, then I have about a 1 liter and then about half a liter, I don't know why but I just do. I realize that when I eat, I always have at least one of them filled up with me so I can have a very refreshing drink after my food.
Michael Pollan
I think that in my family we go by what the t.v says most of the time. We also go by what the doctors tell us because they are supposed to know what they are doing and tell us the right things to do concerning our health, and everything else for that matter. There are a lot of commercials that we see that we tend to fall for but then there are a lot that may seem way too good to be true for us to believe or way to fake for us to believe, which we don't. So we don't pay those commercials any mind. Usually, if an author was to give good ideas on something you would pay them mind. Especially if they are persuading you with about 500 pages of what can be either boredom or excitement.
Grocery Store
In my family we use a lot of vegetables. My mother be buying mad different kinds because when she cooks she likes adding all of those different "flavors" to it. Like the beans have their own vegetables that my mother adds and the meat has its own.
My mother absolutely LOVES her yogurt. She buys them all the time and shes so greedy with them too, she hates when people go into the fridge and eat them. She seems to buy the same flavors too, it's either banana, mango, strawberry, or blueberry.
In my house we also buy almonds a lot and nuts that we sometimes mix in with the yogurt. I think that grocery stores "push" the more expensive fruit, when I think, there are more cheaper fruits that not many people know about, or maybe the store just does not have them or push them towards the back, just because they know they would make a lot more money marketing the bigger and more expensive ones.

May Day
I believe that May Day led to a lot of good and meaningful lives. The reason I say this is because it made a lot of people fight for what they believed in. Many people wouldn’t have fought like those people fought, as they protested at the risk of their lives. I feel bad for the people who gave the presentations because they were prosecuted for something they hadn’t done.
I think that if more people were to understand the meaning behind labor day that people would treat the holiday different than they do now. I think that more people would actually do that march instead of just chillin’ and stuff. I think this way because I know that once someone knows more about a certain subject, they tend to care more. That’s how I think at least, like if there’s something real interesting that maybe I didn’t know much about and then I get all this juicy and interesting information I’m going to understand it more and care more. Its like learning more about breast cancer and what it does to a person. It’s little things that are overlooked that, if they weren’t, would changed the ways people go about their lives, and how they think and act around certain subjects.

24hour foodlog
It's 8:30 in the morning, I must admit I'm still kind of sleepy and real tired as I eat my breakfast. School breakfast, cream cheese on a raisin bagel with two cases of apple juice and then some kix cereal with milk of course to top it off. I think it took me about 20 minutes to finish consuming my breakfast, and the cream cheese on the raisin bagel was my favorite part, it jerked my taste buds.
Now it's about 9:00 and I'm putting some stride gum in my mouth, the green colored pack. It has that "long lasting" taste so I enjoyed chewing on it,especially since I just finished eating my breakfast. I dont want to go around walking with a not so good scent of breathe. I think I end up chewing on that one stick of gum for like half an hour, which I find suprising because I dont know how I could chew on it for so long.
12:40 lunch time, I'm at the mexican restaurant, I decide to buy a chicken burrito, which comes with some bangin' shit inside. Theres everything from rice and beans to lettuce and tomatos. Very good I must admit. I would estimate that I took about 15 minutes consuming that food, I felt as good as I've felt all day, maybe just because I been starving since breakfast, and now I find myself full. I down everything with a nice can of sprite, so freakin' refreshing. Took me like 30 seconds to finish that off.
Dinner time 7:35 ..ish
My mom cooked her chicken fettucini, I think thats how its spelled, OMG that shit is so good. I really appreciate my mom making this because I've been asking her to make it for like a week already and she finally did it. And its not like she did it just to get it over with, because from what I saw, she was in a good mood, and when she's in a good mood you can tell at dinner time. Everything just tastes like 10x better. I take my food, sit my fat ass on the couch and put some Mets baseball, through commercials I'm flippin through Mets and SportsCenter, I cant lie, I'm living the good life right about now, feels so good just chillin and eating my delicious food while I watch my favorite team play.

Food culture at home
When I go home I dont think people can really relate to me. Well people can but not many people. I go home and often find an empty kitchen, one where theres nothing to eat except a slice of bread and some milk. Lets talk about the good stuff though, when my mom DOES cook, it's the most delicious and bangin' food in the world. Like I'm not even lying, my fat ass be eating seconds....maybe even thirds if needs be. When my family eats we usually eat at different times and at different places. First to eat would be my mother and my nephews because most of the time nobody is even home right when the food is done, then it would probably be me followed by my my brother or sister, they can vary in order. This is the usual setting, my mother on the kitchen table with my smallest nephew who turns 1 on wednesday and my 3 year old nephew right in front of the couch eating on his own while he watches his educational cartoon things on noogin.
Then if I'm there I would either eat on the couch or right by my computer and usually be on like facebook.com or like yahoo or espn checking out my fantasy teams. When my brother comes home, he's usually smacked so this asshole eats his food then he would either eat my sisters food or find something, anything at all in the fridge to snack on. Then he would rest a little and eat more about half an hour later. Then my sister, after coming home from work, would be hungry so she would eat her food, and its funny because me and her kind of alternate with our eating stations and I would probably either head to my room or my mothers room and lay down and watch some tv while I text my friends. I think my family is really different compared to other families because usually family's be eating together like at a dinner table all happy and stuff and thats just not my family, the only times we sit together at a table is during thanksgiving or christmas, like literally we dont do that quality family time.
My mother focuses her cooking on cooking with love I guess even though over the years they seem to decrease but I think that she really does go hard when she cooks, and it usually does not last too long, just a couple of hours, I hate it when I'm like OD starving and it seems like thats when it takes about 5 hours, drain. My mom does try to incorportate some healthiness in our foods, she always makes some salad which makes you even feel good just because you know you are eating something healthy to your body.

What's with Americans and fast food?
I found the 47.5 % of Americans food money eat food prepared away from home .

Maybe Americans are addicted to these fast foods, but they may call it slow foods.

Food in Fridge
Yogurt
Water
Cheese
Juice
Ham
Turkey
Left Overs
Butter
Milk
Lettuce
Chicken
I think that the food in my refrigerator basically says that we need money. And its screaming for it, I remember when I was younger my fridge was always stuffed with food and now I dont find anything interesting in there anymore. I believe that the left-overs say a lot about the family/culture because spanish people tend to really rely on left overs, I dont know if its that they usually cannot afford to cook 2 days in a row or that they are to freaking lazy to do so!

Health Assignment
In this unit we have been discussing our moral and emotional health and improving our meantal health. I personally believe that the way us Americans go about our health is all fucked up. We all talk about how we want to stay fit and all but we somehow figure out a way to eat McDonalds about 4-7days a week. Like can that even be possible? Our moral health about the right and wrong is so fucked up. In class we were taught about how $200 can basically help save a childs life. Andy told us to bring ten bucks to class and we would be able to save that life. Some donated, some didnt. I didnt. I know, I know....I'm one fucked up dude, but I am just an image of how morally wrong we are. I find it more important for some reason that I need to use that money for lunch.
I believe the reason for me not deciding to donate was because I believed that my ten bucks werent going to make much of a difference and that theres plenty of other people out in the world tjat can make up for the ten that I did not put in. Then I started thinking, which is actually hard for me to do, so this is actually history you are witnessing. So I thought to myself ok, what if every American, or for that matter, any human decided they would actually donate the ten bucks and not rely on the next person to make up for them. We would save so many other lives, its ridiculous.

break hw
Please pay attention to your emotions over this break. At what points do you feel emotionally healthiest? Least healthy? What's going on that affects your emotional health? What actions can you take to support your own emotional well-being?
Is emotionally healthy the same thing as "constantly happy"? If not, what is it, to you?
How do the theories of the therapies we researched connect to your ideas about emotional health?
Over the break my most emotionally healthy moments were the times I either spent with my Yazmin, my nephews, & my friends. Out of all I think Yazmin brang the most emotionally healthy moments, but also the unhealthy came with it. The arguements begin to catch up with you after a while so it's been a little frustrating in many ways. I also think that making my money over thsi break put that McDonald's smile on my face. And as much as I hate to admit it, spending most of it wasnt that cruel to this fragile heart of mine. I think that in order for me to always stay on my emotionally healthy shit I got to stop stressing shit and find a way to not get mad at Yazmin even when she's on her annoying stage.
My mom hit me with some good news last night as she told me she was going to the casino, I thought to myself, "oh great she's coming home...no wait i mean SHE'S NOT COMING HOME with the money she left with." Instead I was just shocked as I received a phone call from my mother with her screaming at the top of her lungs that she had just won $10,000 and I wont lie, I was happy, but what made my day was when she told me she was giving me $400.
I think that being emotionally healthy IS the same thing as being constantly happy because in order for you to be constantly happy because if you arent constantly happy you either arent emotionally healthy or you are neutral, neither healthy or unhealthy.

humanistic psychology
When I read the article on Humanistic psychology I found it interesting, because I feel that its the correct way to approact someone in therapy or just about in any situation. In humanistic psychology the approach is to focus on two aspects, psychoanalysis, and behaviorism. "Psychoanalysis was focused on understanding the unconscious motivations that drove behavior while behaviorism studied the conditioning processes that produced behavior. " I think this is a good path to take when trying to resolve problems, you have to study what the person who needs the help is going through to understand what is making this person act the way they are acting. I think there are many little things that can enforce someone to act a certain way, it can be something like a loved one being killed, or it can even be something as small as not having enough sugar in your morning coffee. I also think it is important for therapist to know what made the patient behave the way they did after the fact that they knew something small, or big, was affecting them. In the article it also says that humanistic psychology is now reflected around growth and self actualization so I think that the importance of getting the patient to understand their own problem in a more simplistic way before they even go to the therapist will indeed help them overcome future obstacles.

emotionally healthy vs the emotionally unhealthy
There's a 17 year old girl, deeply in love with her boyfriend. They have been together for a year and a half and they begin talking about their future and starting a family one day. The boyfriend begins to hear things about his girlfriend and begins to be very suspicious of her. At first, he does not believe one word of what is said about his girl. After a few weeks about the same thing he starts believing it. He stops treating her like he did before and he starts changing he starts abusing her. The things the boyfriend heard about his girlfriend were never really true, but now she has to live with the fact that her boyfriend does not trust her anymore. Every day that he hits her.....she makes one more cut on her arm.
So there's a regular family, not the best at bringing home the money. They are a struggling family with a lot of family chemistry. They put each other before anyone else, the son of the family plays basketball and his family attends all of his games, one day the boy gets into a car crash driving home from school. On his way to the hospital all he can think about is his family and his little brother......

What is breast cancer?
Cancer is a disease in which cells become abnormal and form more cells in an uncontrolled way. With breast cancer, the cancer begins in cells that make up the breasts—usually in the tubes that carry milk to the nipple or the glands that make milk. The cancerous cells form a mass of tissue called a tumor. Sometimes, the cancer spreads to other parts of the body.
2) What is skin cancer?
Cancer is a disease in which cells become abnormal and form more cells in an uncontrolled way. With skin cancer, the cancer begins in cells that make up the skin. The skin is the body's largest organ. It protects us against heat, light, injury, and infection. It regulates body temperature and stores water, fat, and vitamin D. With skin cancer, new cells form when the skin does not need them, and old cells do not die when they should. These extra cells form a mass of tissue called a tumor. Not all tumors are cancer. Tumors that are cancer can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs, and sometimes can spread to other parts of the body.

Feeling good, looking fit, and leading a long and healthy life are things most of us want. Well, there’s a lot we can do to increase the chance that we’ll have them. The beneficial effects—both physical and mental —of good nutrition, physical fitness, and exercise are proven. You’re never too young, too old, or too out of shape to get started— you can benefit from regular physical activity and healthy eating habits.

animal paper
Before this course began we looked at ourselves as humans, nothing more. We spoke about how we might be different and and similar to what we had called animals. We, as human are considered the thinking animals. Notice how I said animals, we share many things as those wild animals. I guess the one biggest difference is how we humans are stuck in a box while the real animals are out enjoying most things we dont get to. Just think about it, we do everything in boxes, we sleep in one, work in one, go to school in one, we watch ourselves in one.
I believe that once we truely know what an animal is then you can then decide whether to classify yourself as either the animal or the human or the human animal. In class Andy spoke about the "special rescue" and that if you understand that you are an animal, there will be no special rescue, I personally believe this is bullshit because I myself was raised to be religious and I believe we are going to be "rescued" once way or another, well most of us. I think that when we over analyze things and dont live life how it should be is where we find that blindspot in life. God created man to worship his word. I also believe that God created man so that man could question him and his almightyness, and thats what I see in most of our classes, I think everything we been studying is basically what God actually wants, for those to question him and be absolutely wrong about things when the way he wants us to think, when devoted to him is realyl different.
I find it weird because before this class started everyone considered themselves really different from animals, but as soon as the teacher begins to brain-wash them they begin to think and believe the way the teacher does, at first I was being brain washed myself but I quickly realized I couldnt let that happen. On friday we spoke about the extinct animals and how we too will go extinct, but I personally believe that we WILL go extinct but we WILL come back as the human race, not us specifically, but a new generation.
If you use your conscienceness to think about life not being conscience then your being conscience about not being conscience. The world was made the way it was for a reason, God has everything planned out, WE ARE NOT ANIMALS. Yea, maybe we can relate to them in some ways but we are far from them, in Genesis 1:26 God said "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness". Theres many different ways to analyze this, at first I simply analyzed this by simply NOT analyzing it and just taking it for what it said. Andy brought up a good point in emphasizing "IN OUR IMAGE" which I find weird, who does God refer to here? Him and his son? Who knows, but the one thing I would hope its not for is that its being refered to an animal.

Feelings on Old People
I personally believe old people are annoying. At least one in particular(my neighbor). She has a weird ass voice that's so freaking annoying like its the type of voice that can literally give you a headache, and you just want that person to leave your house as soon as possible so you wont have to hear their voice anymore. Old people also tend to talk a lot, to the point where you always try to sneak out the conversation, but they keep going, and when you have somewhere to go, you just dont know how to excuse yourself without being disrespectful and rude. Really really old people STINK. They have this nasty smell, I like to call it DEATH. Nothing more to be said. I HATE PEOPLE WHO YELL. OLD PEOPLE WHO YELL***
THE POSITIVES
There are some old people who are really really cool. They are usually always there when you need someone to talk to. And they are usually one of the only people who care just to care, no strings attached, and they call once in a while just to check up on you for no important reason.

Old Folks (interviews)
I was only able to do 1 interview because I dont really have old people in my life. (just mom and dad, and I have interview with mom on other post)

1. What would be one thing you would tell me to watch out for if we were living in your childhood?
People like your mother.
2. Can you tell me what you believe was the most meaningful event in your life?
Being able to come to the United States and get an opportunity that many dont ever get.
3. Was your life even meaningful? Why or why not?
To an extent it was meaningful but then it also wasnt. It was meaningful because he's experienced so much, both good and bad, but to him, having a meaningful life, is being able to live happily and comfortably and most importantly, loved. None of which he is now, so up to this point, his life is leaning more towards not being meaningful than being meaningful.
4. Looking back on your life, is there anything you would un-do?
I would've liked to spend more time with my father before he passed away. I feel that as soon as I came here (United States) I pretty much abandoned my family, I mean we did speak very often, but its not the same as being able to see the person face to face and hug and kiss and share good times.
5. Who is the most important person in your life?
Aside from God, I dont really think there is that one significant person who I can say makes my life more special, other than my kids. I have 8 but all of them seem to care about me for a certain time period then just forget about me. With that being said though, I do love them all but I just wish I were more important to them.

elder answers my questions
1. What would be one thing you would tell me to watch out for if we were living in your childhood?
Forget the streets or your friends, its all about family, with the rough times. You have to work to support your family. No one else. Bottom line.
2. Can you tell me what you believe was the most meaningful event in your life?
As a little girl, getting a job and giving every penny to her mother.
3. Was your life even meaningful? Why or why not?
Not yet. Once she's retired, living in DR, comfortably, then, and only then, will her life be meaningful. Right now, she's still working, barely getting by, and very uncomfortable.
4. Looking back on your life, is there anything you would un-do?
Marrying my father.
5. Who is the most important person in your life?
God. I thank him for every breathe I take and for every day he allows me to live.
6. What makes them this?
He died for me. He's just so special.

LDH2BM - Folk Culture's Messages on the Good and Meaningful Life - Online advice from regular folks
What image of a "good and meaningful" life do the authors reveal?
The author believes that in order to have this perfect relationship, you must follow their 16 rules. 16 rules that are most likely false or not completely true. These tips may tend to work though, as me, as a male, the topics told actually did sound like something the typical guy would be interested in. The warnings can also be really useful too, because I myself, do hate it when any girlfriend I have talks about her past boyfriend(s). And just when you think you have heard enough they keep going as if you really really care, sometimes you may have a random spurt of questions, but they tend to take it to the next level which usually kills a whole bunch of feelings for the time, for me at least. Also, the article talks about how you shouldnt brag or gossip about your friends to your boyfriend because it looks bad, but when a girl brags or gossips to me about her friends, I just get so turned off and stuff, well most of the time, because you think that she does the same thing behind your back, about who knows what kind of things. Once in a while a girl reading the front page of the sports section can be good, to spark up some type of conversation, but it should not get to the point where the girl knows more about the guys favorite sport than the guy does, because then he begins to doubt himself in the relationship and hand over the male responsibilites to the female. These, for the most part, oddly, are kind of new things I've heard. You wouldnt hear much of this anywhere else as most people would not pay the time or the mind to it.
Another one of the examples was based on how to be the perfect boyfriend,it basically told the guy to be clean, faithful, surprising, and understanding. It also told the male in the relationship to be that boyfriend you probably will never find, in one scene the male comes home with two bought flights, to probably a place like Paris, which the typical guy, would not be able to afford. And then there was the scene where the female was scared of the dark and the male wakes up in the middle of the night and turns on the light just to comfort her, and pretending you care about what the female has to say about her problems when you really dont. But if you were the perfect boyfriend, wouldnt you actually be interested in what she has to say? In my perspective, being the "Perfect Boyfriend" means being able to make her happy no matter what circumstances may occur, being able to satisfy and maintain her, also being able to understand each other in more that just a romantic level, but also a friendship level, and being really close friends while lovers at the same time. Being romantic, and charming and not having her mad at you at any time, these are qualities that are hard to find, but there is a chance that you may find some in a couple of guys out there, if you find everything in one, consider yourself lucky, because those are hard to find. Living the good life while being in a relationship, is basically knowing that at the end of the day, you too will make each other happy.

Inaguration Analysis
When Barack Obama was sworn in today, it felt more like the peoples inaguaration more that his, in my persperctive at least. The country was filled with excitement as schools, such as ours filled their classrooms, cafeterias and, hey, even a radio here and there. About 2 million people made their way through the Washington Mall, a crowd, which one would imagine would be wild and crazy, but no, this crowd was friendly, and patient. It was more of a family reunion as today, history was made, for once, I can honestly say I felt like this country was 1 , or at least more united then ever before. We even got to share a few laughs, as Obama stuttered while being sworn in. Obama, in a low-key but tough-minded inaugural address, talked about themes that have defined his campaign from the beginning: hope, faith, courage, sacrifice and a willingness to work across partisan lines to build a more just society and a more perfect union. He didn't promise tidy or painless solutions to the nation's problems but stressed that they can be overcome. "The challenges we face are real, they are serious and they are many," he said. "They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this America: They will be met." This just about got everyone hype about Obama, I kind of got a few chills, this guy really knows how to talk, it doesnt even seem like hes trying to sound all sophisticated and stuff, it just comes out that way. I think this is, by far, the smartest President we have ever had.

WINTER BREAK
This winter break I did not get to do much, I basically stayed at home, played video games, ate like a overweight McDonald's cashier. Anyways, I didn't do much, I got really upset because I thought I would be getting more hours at my job during the break instead I got less, I ended up seeing my girl only ONE lousy time which got me really mad, but it was kind of cool. I got these cool roller blades from Yazmin, she's such a sweetheart, and I've been using them a lot but Im just waiting for the weather to get better to use them more often. I did end up going out a few times with my homeboys, we went to shoot pool, got sauced of the Patrone, ya digg? I basically just chilled and went to sleep kind of late every night, just taking advantage of my vacation.
Valentines Day
Valentines Day is a day in which people are expected to suddenly fall in love, for the day at least. Its a day where you are supposed beat the boyfriend, the other boyfriend who would make you and what you have prepared for your girlfriend, look like shit. Or it can be that day when you overcome all your fears of being shy and finally go up to that special girl you've had your eye on since the first day of school. I remember when I was younger, I had these huge crushes on a bunch of girls and had asked many to be my Valentine days before, as expected, I got rejected by about 80% of the girls, which, now that I think of it isnt really that bad. So after I had like 3 Valentines, I started to actually think, and I realized I did not have money to buy these 3 lovely girls something for Valentines day. So as I sat home one day I started to think of ways to either raise enough money or sadly, get rid of a Valentine or 2 . Then DING DING DING!!!! A lightbulb!! I mean idea. I would present one master gift to the 3 and it would all be cool, right? WRONG! I got the chocolate thrown out, after they had managed to steal a few peices, and not one thank you. Apparently, I,me, of all people, had just been called a jerk. I honestly cannot remember of one Valentines since then, but hopefully this Valentines I get to spend it with the 1 girl thats made me happy, FOR NOW.

BIG PAPER
My perspective on how to live a good and meaningful life is to work until you are 37 and you really dont need to work anymore, invest in a successful company, retire , have 3 kids with a beautiful wife, or two, have the best cars, be very close friends with all celebraties, but most importantly be a wonderful parent and husband, teach them life lessons and moral lessons and raise them properly so they can one day follow in your foot steps. I spoke to my mother about this and her perspective on a good and meaningful life is for her to retire in 5 years, leave us here and move to her home country where she can be with people she actually loves, I was kind of dissapointed hearing that, but then I realized me and her have the same thing in common. The dominant corporate perspective on how to live a good and meaningful life is to be rich and have a family where everyone is happy all the time, although this is never true in any family, in my opinion at least. Then theres the marginal corporate message which basically is you work hard until your 60 retire, have your kids support you and work and make sure your kids get a good education.
BLACK-FRIDAY
Did I shop? Easy answer. No. Why wake up at 2 in the morning to wait outside in the cold to get something for about 30% off, it sounds good, considering the sales going on but me, in that cold, for so long? I dont think so. And now hearing about the Wal-Mart worker that got trampled, makes me already want to make up my mind about the next Black Friday. Me, personally, I don't think you need to go shopping on Black Friday to live a good and meaningful life. Its just an excuse that corporate media uses to have sky-rocketting sales. Maybe some people just want to fit in so when a bunch of friends come over they can show off and brag about their new 50 inch flat screen TV. Or maybe they use that new TV as a magnet to lure the friends that wouldnt normally go if that person would have never bought the TV. Black Friday can be very useful but I guess only out of dire neccessity, and if you have proper preparations, know where you are going in the store so next time an employee doesnt die.
